Kingsman: The Secret Service
Kingsman: The Secret Service (M18 film loosely adapted from Mark Millar's graphic novel of the same name) - Gentleman spy with ladies, James Bond, Jason Bourne, secret agency, heroes with remarkable skills, codenames from the Knights of the Round Table, villians bent on killing with self-righteous intention, world conspiracy involving world leaders ... Amid all the M18 violence and British expleti...ves with reference to s**, still ... a true British action blockbuster, spy thriller and comedy all roll into one which poke fun now and then like, to the initial JB [Not Johor Bahru but more Spy and British, see above] ... ... -_-x (When you know the director is also from your favourite X-Men movie First Class, Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons the comic giants are the source material creators, you are in for a ride! Almost everything is British except for the American Samuel L Jackson who try to stammer with British accent. Even with similar cliches of "young-people-is-the-real-hero", "the-hero-cannot-die" and "save-the-day" plots, the movie is throughout exciting and pretty good. The effects and fighting scenes are mind-blowing. The violence and explosions albeit disturbing, are "cushioned" and made more "artistically". Simply to say, this film is AWESOME-TECULAR and I cannot wait to see the sequel.)
Ah Boys to Men 3, Frogmen
Ah Boys to Men 3, Frogmen: A Jack Neo film that brings back Singapore army National Service nostalgia, this time with a what-if ... most of the previous Ah Boys to Men actors join the super "xiong"[tough] navy divers [NDU] aka Frogmen. The movie is full of product placements and propaganda, no doubt on purpose, as the brands of beer to bread to facial lotion, mission statements and core values are... all stated very explicitly and repeatedly. Many heart-warming moment, many funny what-the-heck military happenings and jokes, even the plot is good as you feel for the different characters in the show and the issue of "rightfully wrong" and "wrongfully right" moral dilemma is addressed. There are even exciting action, fight, gun and combat scenes. -_-x (100x better than the full-of-flaw "The Lion Men" series. The film manage to capture the magic of Ah Boys to Men and remind us why many of us love the series in the first place. Seriously, Jack Neo is better with coming out films a lot closer to Singapore heart, with issues and roles that many Singaporeans have experience and can relate to, rather than trying out new things that somehow always do not work out for him. Next on Singapore NS box office milk-the-cash-cow list, Air Force the Above All? Lol. Nothing can stand in our way ... HooYah! As a Singaporean guy who has gone through NS basic training, though not in the army and navy, I can really understand and relate to all the s**ts and memories of regimental in-camp-trainings where you are always seemingly wrong and have to answer 3 most common sentences, "Yes Sir, No Sir and Thank you Sir". For this, I will always have soft spot for National Service shows ... (:)
Furious 7
Furious 7 (The Fast and Furious film franchises) [For Paul ... A tribute to the late Paul Walker]: Written by Chris Morgan and directed by James Wan, a good director. The same cool multi-racial casts starring Van Diesel and his Latina gal, Paul Walker and his 2 brothers with his well-made CGI faces, the Brazilian gal who acts as his wife (who have to take care of the kid in the show and therefore l...imited screen time), the 2 funny Black guys and of course, The Rock. This time with additions like Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Thai Tony Jaa, African Djimon and an English lady black, and minuses like that Korean Han and the lady who is going to be Wonder Woman. The bad guys just keep coming and the black ops just keep getting bigger and bigger, as everyone is thirsting for, an eye for an eye. Furious 7 is full of actions, full of fist and street fights, full of car racings and drifting, full of thrills, full of puns that are started by the bad guys and then repeated back in the face by the good guys, full of "really hot stuffs" and once again solidly proves that CARS CAN FLY, not 1, not 2 but MANY freaking TIMES !!! -_-x (It is so AWESOME-TECULAR !!! It is no wonder the series is now a 7 and there is going to be another 2 installments coming, WHAT?!? ... Full of hot sizzling stuffs, I mean more of the eye-popping sports CARS rather than errr ... ... LOL ... May peace be upon you, Paul! Thank you for bringing us amazing action films!)
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Avengers: Age of Ultron (No Spoilers!) - A film very widely anticipated that finally unites the heroes for the second time with a wide cast of superheroes from the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) that already exists, and easter eggs and set-ups of those that are going to exist. 3 newcomers join the current action of saving lives and defeating Ultron, the mad Artificial Intelligence kick-started by... Stark (Ironman) and Banner (Hulk). Basically, the Avengers have to clear their own mess this time. More cameos of familiar faces, more heroes absolutely, and of course SHIELD and one-eyed Nick. Full of action, full of fights, this time with more personal background stories, vendettas, motivations, fears and pains of the heroes particularly Hawkeye who is never featured a lot in other non-Avengers films. Some sub-plots. Many witty funny one-liner puns. -_-x (Avengers will always be Awesome-Tecular! Though I feel that the first one is more classic than this sequel. Do note there is a mid-credit, featuring a really important bad guy mastermind. God of Geeks, director Joss Wedon, is right about him not putting in post-credit this time. So no need to hold your pee and wait throughout ... ...)
Jurassic World
Jurassic World (Supposedly Jurassic Park Part 4, 22 years later): A long-awaited nostalgic Dinosaur film that many young adults are waiting for, in reminiscing our favourite childhood memory. The old Jurassic theme song from John Williams that play quite a few times strategically in the film that keep on ringing in our head even after we left the cinema. A theme park based movie about greed and al...ways, the desire for profit and "something bigger fiercer and badder". The not-so-Science of genetics involving the making of a "villian" hybrid without feathers that represents humans' sinful creation named as The Indominus Rex. Featuring 2 young and smaller boys that cannot die, 2 hero and heroine that do not die, eager Scientists and nerd who always escape, gun-bearing soldiers who always die, hungry corporations and many tourists who are always injured or bitten then get evacuated. Applications of Dinosaur are being mentioned as some Dinosaur are being trained and many domesticated. Not forgetting the suspenseful Dinosaur huntings and killings, this time with more AWESOME Dinosaur FIGHTINGS! No spoiler, a mother f**king ROARING bad-ass is back! -_-x(Sorry for the swearing. LOL. Jurassic World is really good that will glue you to the chair! Visual and sound effects are brilliantly done, as we are reminded of the excitement, the wonder and the awe of a different prehistoric world and how small we the humans are as compared. A salute to the first Jurassic Park film [Not the 2nd and absolutely not the hilarous 3rd] and to the legendary director and producer Steven Spielberg that started it all! Ready to see the next sequel ... the sticky theme song is now playing in my head ... ...) https://youtu.be/zHalXjs0cDA
Terminator Genisys
Terminator Genisys (2015 Sci-fi film and the fifth instalment and retcon of the franchises [No spoiler!]): Time-travel loop to create multiple alternate stories and future for continuity reboot, artificial intelligence, war, post-apocalytic hope, family relationship paradox, killer robot protector and humans, explosions, guns, BANG, action-packed, machines/robots brawling with some humour on and o...ff. The nano-cellular twist that is FrEaKiNg shown in the trailers [What ... the heck ...]. -_-x (Do not miss the epilogue aka the mid-credit! Genisys is FANTASTIC and the plot is acceptable even with time-travel mumbo jumbo! Arnold is back and a more experience[aged] actor this time as the emotionless role fits him totally. The drum beating Terminator theme is nostalgic. ... ... Classic one liners: "I will be back!" "Hasta La Vista Baby!" LOL)
Ant-Man
Ant-Man (Marvel's 12th successful installment and No Spoilers): A film about the Marvel's smallest hero, whose storyline does not follow the comic version but with the same names like Henry Pym and Scott Lang used, that ties in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is hilarious and latino style. Many great stunning visual and action scenes especially the shrinking, running and coordinating with d...ifferent types of ants, punching, fighting and expanding and throwing, then back to shrinking again. -_-x (I love this movie! Instead of going big and boom, the director goes small, literally and figuratively, with both thumbs-up result. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas totally fit into their heroic character roles really well, a former burglar and a brilliant scientist! The tension and love between fathers and daughters are portrayed. An avenger is being prominently featured and gives glimpse as to why avengers cannot be everywhere and anytime! The main villian Yellowjacket is pretty forgettable though. Do not miss BOTH the mid-credit and post-credit! Post-credit will be linked to the next big Marvel film and give a hint on the civil war "accord".)
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - The 5th amazing franchise featuring yet again the IMF team task force and Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the impossible agent who always "gamble" his way through impossible odds, and win the mission in a cool and heroic manner. The film is full of death-defying action scenes, mind-blowing stunts, breathtaking strokes and [not just car] but the best motorbikes chasing ...sequences ever. A super spy thriller and suspense, a big conspiracy of black ops, with a stronger villian who pose a more serious challenge to IMF known as the Syndicate. -_-x (The film is Awesome-tecular! It is the best embodiment of the first and fourth ghost protocol MI movies put together. There are indeed more characters development and some humour. I was sweating, holding my breath and feeling the adrenaline flow while watching the movie with memorable stunt scenes. Btw, IMF is Impossible Mission Force and not the manipulative International Monetary Fund. LoL. Awaiting the next film to give Tom Cruise his next fat paycheck. He totally deserves it as you can sense how devoted and mature he is in doing all the MI franchises.)Featuring the catchy and classic theme song: Ter-ter ter-ter ter-ter-ter-ter ter-ter-te ...

Attack on Titan Part 1
Hitman: Agent 47
Inside Out
Inside Out (2015 Pixar film): Even with a complex theme on emotions, Pixar nails it again! This time without Steve Jobs's input and John Lasseter's production. A refreshingly emotional, cleverly made and psychologically accurate animation film with quality storyline that will make you smile, feel, tear, laugh and cry. Meet the emotion casts - Joy (Yellow and the leader of the emotion), Sadness (Bl...ue), Fear (Purple), Disgust (Green) and Anger (Red), as they make decision and take turns to "take charge" in handling day-to-day activities and occurences, creating personalities, traits and different types of core, short-term, long-term and forgotten memory (balls). Dreams, nightmares, abstract thoughts, "train of thoughts", puberty, desire, subconciousness, limbo state, apathy (emotionless) and even brain freeze are being portrayed and explored in interesting light. Finally, Bing Bong, the representation of all our childhood imaginary friends, Elephant-like friend of Riley, the main gal in the movie, is being featured! -_-x (Amazingly Brilliant! Innerly Awesome show! ... ... All emotions are important and should work together to lead a balance life even as everyone prefers Joy [Happiness and Optimism], who are and should always be the leader of our emotion for a happy and fruitful life!)

Goosebumps
Goosebumps (2015 horror/comedy film based on R.L Stine 1990s popular Scholastic series): A fast paced movie full of jump scares that are actually more funny than scary most of the time. Contrary to what many people fear for an illogical surrealistic fantasy, this show is actually pretty good. It creatively portrays the Goosebumps monsters and allows the story to flow. I enjoy it very very much. Do... not have high expectation for the CGIs as the animations look "obviously" and "fakishly" animated. It can also be emotional especially near the end. The plot device is actually similar to all 62 beloved R.L Stine's Goosebumps children series. The formula of a teenage protagonist as hero or heroine going into a new place, love interest and side kicks from friends, siblings or neighbours, unusual adventures of horror and supernatural nature, and the ending(s) and cliffhanger that TWIST your mind. Watch out for Mr Black a cameo! Jack Black as a recluse and the teenage actors are all great! -_-x (I grew up reading R.L Stine Goosebumps during my primary school days and I really love them with all my favourite monsters being featured on the screen. Not all are being featured due to limited budget and screen times. Slappy the dummy and antagonist scared the s@$t out of me when I was a kid and now he really gives me goosebumps on screen. The book series are what inspired the young me to read and write especially stories of supernatural horror until my teachers had to warn me from writing horror stories with twist endings and cliffhanger in my composition or I will fail my PSLE. Lol. There are plans for sequel and I really hope Sony would not screw it up. I hope they can use the storyline of Monster Blood.)
Spectre: 007
The Hunger Games III Mockingjay Part 2
The Hunger Games III Mockingjay Part 2: A satisfying enough conclusion to the epic saga as with the novel trilogy, but the pacing is really and purposefully slow because they the Hollywood just have to do it, by unnecessarily splitting 1 average sized book into 2 parts to milk more $$$$$ out of us. The conversations are obviously prolonged to increase run-time explicitly, inevitably hurting the st...ory flow for the movie, making this film less awesome than it should have been. -_-x (More darker and sadder, still can be intense but less feel due to the snail pacing. Should have ended at the right moment but just have to freaking keep on reeling ... DRAGGY ... What??! Jennifer Lawerence is great as Katniss the emotional archer heroine, and good portrayal as of other actors. Finally, an end ... oh wait ... what ... they have plans to make sequels or prequels not based in the novel??? What the f@#*! Stop ruining and milking the franchise! Seriously. Let it end! Let it be!)
The Good Dinosaur
Creed
Creed (2015 film and considered as the 7th of "Rocky" the Sylvester Stallone boxer series. No spoilers and not a single plot revealed. A hint for people who have watched Rocky I to IV ... Look at the title, does Apollo rings a bell?): The BEST boxing film of the all favourite Rocky series since the 1970s. The most AWESOME boxing movie of all times! The boxing bouts and sequences are unquestionably... exciting and caused us to be always at the edge of our seats. The greatest parts are the way the videography and motion pictures are shown ... Raw, Realistic, Gritty as the whole Philadelphia streets and neighbourhoods are wonderfully portrayed. The music score is good and uplifting. The emotions, the tensions and the interactions are the factors that are driving the whole show, that really makes us feel for each characters especially the young Adonis Johnson Creed and now the old man Rocky Balboa. -_-x (Have always been inspired and motivated by Rocky since young, about standing up to do the right thing and pushing forward, achieving our dreams despite all odds and setbacks. Based on observations, the show audiences are 95% males as the rest of the females are just accompanying their boyfriends. LOLLL!!!!! Always a fan of Rocky. Long lives Rocky! Long lives Apollo Creed!)
Star Wars Episode VII
Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens: By J.J. Abrams, who also directs 2 good Star Trek blockbusters, meaning the first of the new Disney trilogy will obviously be an epic space opera. The fan-based anticipation is fantastic, the visual effects are really brilliant, the "Force" is still strong. The familiar plot premise of light (Jedi, non-red light sabre and The Resistance) versus dark (The Da...rk side, red light saber and First Order with a bigger weapon) and a journey race to find the skilled Jedi Master. The nostalgia as the old characters like Han Solo, General (Former Princess) Leia, Chewbacca, C3-PO, R2-D2 and Luke Skywalker are back. Millenium Falcon and awesome space piloting fights are back. But the protagonists are the younger Finn, Rey, a best pilot Poe and a (merchandise-that-will-sell-well) robot droid known as BB-8. The big antagonist is somewhat "related". Seriously, same theme as Star Wars episode IV - VI. The twist hopefully will be as powerful, as the revelation of Darth Vader the famous villain of IV-VI. -_-x (Do not worry about the first 6 episodes. New audiences can still watch. May the Force be with you!)
叶问 3 [Ip Man 3]
叶问 3 [Ip Man 3] (starring Donnie Yen in Ip Man films based on certain biography of a real martial art grandmaster, rated PG 13): Full of breathtaking sparrings! Street fights, Close-ranged fights, Kungfu fights, one versus many fights, Pole fights, Bruce Lee fight, Muay Thai, Boxing, and Yong Chun versus Yong Chun itself! Mike Tyson is the Boxer! Surprisingly, the show does not just portray only fight fight fights, but also ... focus on the touching and emotional scenes of Ip Man and his family particularly his wife. -_-x (A treat to the adrenaline rush! Some comedic and heartrending moments. A movie sequel that is equal if not greater than the first two. Thumbs Up!)
